Bee Disease Day

On Friday the 7th of July members have an exciting and rare opportunity to handle and get up close to foulbrood with Dave and Celia Rudland of East Surrey bees. Dave used to be a seasonal bee inspector but now runs both East Surrey bees and the bee apprenticeship scheme for youngsters intending to become bee farmers. In this session they will also talk about diseases in general and how to keep healthy bees. Most importantly we will be allowed to smell and inspect frames of foulbrood both EFB and AFB (all PPE will be provided, and appropriate licenses will have been obtained by Dave himself). This is such a rare opportunity as normally when there is an outbreak of foulbrood diseased frames are destroyed.

We envision these spaces going quickly and therefore spaces will be secured once payment has been received. Please sign up on the attached form and payment details will be sent to you.

Members will have exclusive access to this until the 9th June, once that date has passed any places left will be offered to non-members of other divisions on a first come first served basis.

This is a special opportunity for members and we are only able to offer this because Dave Rudland will have frames of foulbrood on this date as he will be using them to train his apprentices, so don’t miss out.
