Talk by Michael Moss
November 4, 2015 @ 7:15 pm - 10:00 pm
Michael Moss started beekeeping as a boy in Essex in 1957, moving to Crowborough in 1984, when he joined the Crowborough and District Beekeepers’ Society (predecessor of the High Weald Beekeepers’ Society), holding the offices of Secretary and Treasurer. He was President of the High Weald Beekeepers from 2002 until he moved to take up residence in France ten years later.
Over the years, he acquired a considerable fund of knowledge of beekeeping, based on study, wide reading, personal practical experience, attendance at Apimondia conferences, and a year spent working with Brother Adam at Buckfast Abbey. He exhibited at the South of England Show, Ardingly and the National Honey Show, winning prizes in a number of different classes at both.
Our annual visits to Michael’s apiary at “Dingley Dell” in Groombridge were always instructive and entertaining, and many of our members have reason to be grateful to him for knowledge imparted in “Reflections”, his regular contribution of topical advice and comments in the “Wealden Apiarist”.
His experience of beekeeping in his new surroundings in France, together with his forthright views on matters apicultural, will make for a fascinating and entertaining evening.
