Skep Making Workshop

March 11, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Yeah - we have been lucky enough to book
Nick Mengham – Mr Bumble
Saturday 11th March
From 10.00am until 4.00pm
The Mount, Wadhurst. TN5 6PT

Nick began beekeeping over 20 years ago and now has around 150 hives in Kent. In addition to honey production, he hires out his hives for fruit pollination. His interest in skep making stems from a wider enthusiasm for the history of beekeeping and he has demonstrated the craft at various events including the Kent County Show and the Step Back in Time working bygones event. Nick will aim to teach you how to make skeps and not just run a production line. Few will finish their skeps on the day but we hope all will go home with the knowledge and materials needed to finish the job. Nick also has endless amusing stories to recount about bees and bee-keepers – highly entertaining!.
A light lunch will be provided (let me know if you have any dietary requirements or anything you hate!!)
Johannes at the Mount has kindly said that he will provide drinks
The cost for the day will be £35 – Nick will provide all the materials and tools for doing the job!(£30.00 if you are bringing your own lunch)
(Nick will make a small charge, if you wish to keep your tools).
